a rainy sleepover in Dallas

 It was the perfect rainy Sunday in Dallas to have a sleepover.

After the kiddos were in bed, us parents ate warm cookies and candy bar ice cream. Delicious! Then we taught Reed and Melis how to play our new favorite card game - Hand and Foot.

After dessert, games and chatting until 2:00 am it was bed time.

4th of JULY

2012

 We celebrated downtown at the Fort Worth 4th festivities again this year. We were in shock to see more than double the people there this year. It was crazy but still really fun. Andy, Beka & Nixon joined us, which made Cohen even more excited.

  This year the firework show was the best Brock and I both have ever seen. I'm sure it helped that we were right under it. They lit them just across the river from us, close enough to throw a rock and easily hit them. It was awesome!

And what's a great firework show without a few fires?!

I'm proud to be an American.

Very grateful for my freedom.

a 1st for everything...

 Co got his 1st BEE STING this month.

He was playing in the sprinklers out back.

He was one tough kid and only let out a yelp when it stung, then

Dad made it "all better" when he slapped some mud on it.

 On a happier note,

gas was $2.99 per gallon the week of the 4th of July.

  Happy day.

Another relaxing day in Fort Worth.

Brendon had a Dr. Appt. {meeting with surgeon from old post}

One of the highlights of the day for ME was when we were all relaxing in the family room, and Brendon comes walking down the hall into the room chomping on an apple that Cohen had left in his room a few hours earlier. He worked on gumming that thing for quite some time and did I pretty dang good job. I was impressed how much he ate with only 3 teeth.

 That night, we went to Abuelo's for dinner. 

Very enjoyable mexican food.

SATURDAY morning we headed to the park for a few hours to pass some time until we left to head to Dallas to Aunt Davitas house for a bbq/pool party.

 Brock playing "beat my jump distance" with himself. I tried but am clearly a TERRIBLE swing jumper.

On our way to Davita's, we made a pit stop at the Dallas Temple so my Dad could see it for the first time. We walked around the grounds, snapped a few pics.

 We had a bbq feast with FRUIT and dips and chips and salsas and my favorite part - homemade mexican vanilla bean ice cream made my Cathy. YUM! I'm craving it as we speak.

  Thanks Davita for hosting! It was SO good to be with all our Dallas family. Good food, refreshing pool and wonderful company.

SUNDAY was the sad day.
Say day of goodbyes.
I am one lucky girl to have had 10 close to perfect days with my wonderful parents. They are a little piece of Heaven to me.

Dallas for the Day.

First stop, WHATABURGER. We have been told by many TEXANS that we have to try WHATABURGER. Well, we did and we approve. 5 star burger joint if you ask me.

 Next stop, DALLAS WORLD AQUARIUM.

We have been before, so Brock stayed home and got some research work done. It was great day for the aquarium, really hot outside but it wasn't too crowded.

 My mom is BEAUTIFUL.

WEDNESDAY "down" day of relaxing and playing at home.

My cute mom and I went and got pedicures, her treat. It was SO enjoyable to be alone with her, to girl talk and LAUGH. One of my favorite things in this life is laughing with my family, especially my mom. Her laugh is contagious and makes life good.

**Thank you again to Grandpa for babysitting! 

 Played out back, which turned out to be not SO hot, bearable I guess. We did have to throw in some water though to cool off a little - Water balloons and sprinklers.

 My dad made crepes for dinner. Delicious!

It was a well needed slower day so we could recharge our batteries and be ready for more TEXAS fun.
