:: Cars 2 ::
This weekend has turned out to be WONDERFUL.
We have been productive, which hasn't been happening everyday lately, we've had loads of fun, and we all have been happy and positive. And I will just say - that hasn't always been the case these few weeks we've been here in Texas.
Here are a few events that have taken place this weekend...
- Brock and I purchased our first washer. FINALLY! Dryer will be coming soon. Brock rigged up a sweet clothes line in our backyard for now that works just fine. :)
- I FINALLY was able to go to a Dr. here. {We've been waiting too long for insurance to switch and process} My Dr. and his office and staff are definitely different than I am used to. I didn't realize how NICE everything and everyone was at my Utah clinic. But, it was do just fine. He is very nice, has lots of experience, and I will only be seeing him a couple times before this baby boy comes. A little update on the baby....as of now he weighs 5 lbs. 15 oz., 5 more ounces than Cohen was when he was born. We both are healthy. The only stressful part now is I am having to decide whether or not I should have a C-section or not. BLAH. Pros and cons to both. Due to my 4th degree tear when I delivered Cohen, it may not be smart to risk that happening again and have bad permanent damage. The hardest part of all is it my choice. I wish the Dr. would have just said go one way or the other. It will all work out for the best. I'm not too worried about it. BUT, if you are reading this and have any opinion or experience please give me your feed back. It is looking like this baby will be born July 15th IF he doesn't come earlier. Whether I deliver c-section or not I can schedule to be induced that day. YAY! That's at least a positive thing. A week earlier than planned.
- Friday night we were surprised to get a call from some old friends from our first married student ward in Utah, The Gillets. They asked to take us out to dinner to welcome us to Texas. That just made our night! We had a WONDERFUL meal at Macaroni Grill, and the company was even better. It was so nice to get caught up with them and meet their two youngest kids. Darling family who we look up to so much, and are excited that they live so close to us. We WILL be seeing them more.
- After we went to dinner we went to Brock's first softball game. He plays with our ward on a city league team. I was quite surprised how serious these games are, and how nice the fields are. Brock did say he was very rusty, but he had a blast. Cohen pulled a late night and we stayed for the whole game to watch Daddy. He thought it was so cool to see dad play baseball. On our drive home at 10:00 pm {way past Co's bedtime} Co said, "Daddy, fun game. That was fun." During the game he asked a few times "Mama, let's go home." Bless his heart, he was so tired.
- Saturday was a productive day, LOVE THOSE DAYS. I feel tons more prepared for this new baby to come. Then we found tickets to Cars 2 for $5.00 so we went to the early show. Co wasn't as interested as we thought he would be. He LOVES Cars 1 and watches the whole movie, but the Cars 2 was a little different. He'll have to get used to it I guess. He did surprise me how well he did at the theater, not knowing what to expect at his first movie. Bear {his teddy bear that is attached to his hip these days} came with us of course, and we had plenty of snacks. It was a good show.
Although, Cars 1 still has my "favorite" vote.

Hey I know I'm not a super close friend, but I'd like to offer a bit of an opinion on the c-section decision if you don't mind :) I tore really badly when I had Celes. Pretty sure it was 3rd degree, and she was 9 lbs. I was really worried about tearing again with Brooklyn, but everything I read said just because you tore once does not mean it'll happen again. And with Brooklyn I didn't tear at all, and she was 8 lbs 1 oz. I'm not sure what you're ideal birth experience is, but the best bet you have of not tearing is to be able to feel what's happening during second stage of labor. So if you have an epidural during 1st stage, you'd need to turn it off during second stage. Not sure if that's something you'd decide to do or not though. Tearing is usually caused by pushing too hard and at the wrong time, which is often what happens with doctors telling laboring women when to push when the women can't feel their bodies. They push too hard and for too long. You really need to be able to feel what's happening, because then you can feel when to hold back. It's ideal to not push during crowning at all, just breathe instead. That's what I did with Brooklyn. I pushed during contractions, but not for crowning, and I never held by breath to push really hard. Pushing position has a large impact as well. It's best to push in an upright position, squatting, or hands and knees. And if your new baby's size was estimated by ultrasound there's a large chance that it won't be accurate. My aunt was told she was having an 11+ pound baby and they did a c-section and he was 9 lbs 11 oz. Big, but still about a pound and a half off of the estimate. Ultrasounds are often wrong. And with the c-section, even though everything was routine, they still took her baby to the NICU for 3 or 4 hours for monitoring and she didn't get to see him. That's something that I would hate lol. Of course it is definitely something to pray about, and I remember how bad my 3rd degree tear was, I can't imagine a 4th, but just because it happened one time doesn't mean it will again. I would avoid the risks of a c-section and induction if at all possible. Perhaps see if there's a midwife that works at the hospital where you'll be delivering. I bet she could give some good advice as well :)
Oh Melissa, what a tough decision. I would be just like you--just want the doctor to tell you what to do. I know very little abuot C-sections. Although all the women I've talked to said it was just fine (and almost nicer because no pushing) But I know I've heard from doctors and such that it can be harder on your body in many ways (not the natural way, healing, scars, etc) Super tough decision. I'm sorry you have to make this decision. But if it comes to getting induces, I give it two thumbs up. (But I'm sure you already knew that.) Especially it being number 2. That way, your mom is able to be there for Co and such. I just want to plan everything. I hate the unknown events. So I think that's why I'm all for inducing. :) PS - Tell Brock to PLEASE text me when he gets here. Every day I tell Ty I'm all antsy when I think of you because I know he could be here any day now. :)
I am having the same debate right now wether to have a c-section or not... I had Mya c-section and I actually had a great experience with it. I heard SO many horror stories of c-sections but just know not all of them are that way. I actually found it quite nice. I have never done it any other way though so... take it for what it's worth. I don't know how many children you plan on having but I know there are risks with having a lot of children c-section. Ask your doctor about that. Good luck on your decision. Can't wait to see pictures and hear how it all goes. You guys are adorable and I am so happy you guys are loving TX!
